About Islip NY
Islip is one of ten towns in Suffolk County, NY As of a 2018 census it has an approximate population of 330,914 residents. Within the town of Islip is a smaller unincorporated hamlet and census-designated place also with the name Islip. Matthias Nicoll came to New York in 1664 from Islip, Northamptonshire, England. Presumably the name of the town is derived from his home town in England. The town of Islip includes part of Fire Island and the Great South Bay.
