Trends for Dressing Windows & Natural Light Control

Course Objective and Description:

To gain a broad knowledge of the myriad of window covering options on the market today and on the horizon, including application, and how to up sell based on design options, environmental conditions, and the lifestyle requirements of the client. To provide an overview of window covering options available (including all types of treatments: drapery, shades, blinds, and shutters, as well as specialty treatments and motorization).  With an in depth look at the benefit of designer oriented value added features and how to up sell based on these as well as an assessment of the end consumer’s life style requirements.  To discuss price differentials within different window treatments and how value added features will help make the sale and separate the conscientious designer from the discount retailer.

Motorization & Control Basics for Window Coverings

Course Objective and Description:

To provide a basic vocabulary, understanding and list of options for selling motorization as a window covering option and to instill a level of comfort and confidence when discussing these options with the end user, contractors, and related trades.  To discuss the technology available on the market today and on the horizon, including different window covering applications and how to approach/sell motorization based on design options, environmental conditions, and the lifestyle requirements of the client.  To provide an overview of window covering motorization and control options available (including all types of treatments: drapery, shades, blinds, and shutters, as well as specialty treatments both hardwired and battery operated

Instructor Profile: Gary Reinhardt

Gary Reinhardt has been in the window covering industry since 1972 starting as a management trainee for a national fabric retailer. In 1974 Gary was hired as a sales representative for a major window covering manufacturer and in 1979 Gary became a partner in a wholesale fabrication business located in northern New Jersey. In 1993 CMI was begun and today CMI sells specialty window treatments and motorization to the interior design, architectural and home automation trade.

Gary is a speaker and presenter of seminars on window treatments, and is a recognized authority on motorized window coverings, light control, and integration with leading home control systems. In addition Gary provides training seminars for window covering dealers and interiors designers who desire to increase their knowledge of this growing segment of the interior design business.

Gary has been recognized for his contributions and product inventions within the industry and most recently in September 2008 was awarded the prestigious Industry Partner Merit Award by the National American Society of Interior Designers.
